Aranged mariege part three

Jenny and James arived at the cabin. They unpacked then sat down on the couch.neither one knew what to say. They tried but could not get the words out. They sat in silence for a little bit. ” This is awkward!”he said. “It really is. “She said.”think we will unable to talk to each other?”she asked. “I hope not. I guess we will have to work on it. It may take time. “He said. “It may.”she said.

“I guess I was not what you expected.”she remarked.”no your not.i suppose I am not what you exoected?”he asked.”not really? “She said.”did you expect me to be passive? “He asked.”no but Manny united Methodist pastors husband’s are. I don’t really know why?”she said in a tounge in cheek fasson.he laughed then she laughed. Neither one expected that. He began to suspect that she was very playful. He found even then his heart was slowly starting to melt.

“Yes I did expect that you would be a united Methodist or at least a Methodist. Did you expect me to be independent fundimental Baptist and not an ordained minister?”she asked. “I did expect you to be I.f.b and not a minister.”he said.”you wanted a demure women who would not think for herself?”she asked.”no I don’t want someone who is demure.i am open to different idea. I don’t expect you to agree with me all the time. I welcome alternative suggestions. I know I am not always right. I am a sinner saved by grace. I know I am not infallible. I believe I am called to be a leader. A servent leader. I take the servent part very seriously!”he told her.

“Are you commited to this?”she asked.he looked into her eyes. He took her hand and squzed it. “Yes I am commited to you. I made a promise to the Lord and to your Perents and to you. I take that serious. I know what to make rash vows. I believe that the Lord brought us together. I trust him. I believe that the Lord brought us together. I don’t understand it. I also believe that he wants me to live up to those vows.the Bible is clear not to make rash vows. I want to do this. Yes I am committed. Are you commited to this?”he asked.

She smilled. “Yes I am. I am nervous. This is now quite what I expected but yes I am commited to this and to you.”she said. “What are you nervous about?”he asked. ” Nervous that I will never meet your expectations. I guess I am nervous that you will ashamed of me. I fear you will never accept me. I fear that you will never respect me. I fear that we won’t ever really connect. “She said.

“There is no denying that we are both out of our comfort zone. This is not at all what either of us expected. ” He said. “That is very true . ” She said. “We will have to work at this. I expect it will take hard work. Perhaps harder then we ever expected. ” He said. “Yea I am beginning to see that. They say the best marieges are the ones that take work. The ones that both sides are committed to making it work no matter what. What destroy us instead make our relationship stronger. Perhaps that can happen with us. Perhaps it will. I definitely hope so. “She said.

He started to see that there were two  side of Jenny. Two complete wholes. One was the strong Jenny. The leader, the administrator. The alpha, the go getter. The anilitical stoic at times. Then there was the other Jenny. This was a softer more emotional person. A person who was very sensitive. Fragile perhaps. Both sides were all hear. She was both of these personalities.botg of these gestalts if you will.he saw her at first as only the minister Jenn not the personal Jenn. He started to see that side of her. She was starting to let him see that side of her. It was part intentional and part unintentional.

“I am out of my comfort zone. I did expect you to be I.f.b. I did not expect you to be demure but I expected we would have the same experiences. We will have the same base.th same starting point as far as core values. “He said.”I know exactly what you need.now we are not even sure where our starting point is.”she said”yes I can definitely see that. “He said. “The early days will be hard. They could also be the most important. It could be worse. I could be ucc or unitarian . ” She said. “Very true! ” He said. They both laughed.

“So  according to Wikipedia, united Methodist is both mainline and evengelical?” He asked. “Yes. I guess we are slightly towards the liberal end of evengelical. We are still evengelical I would say. So independent fundimental Baptist don’t consider themselves prostistent? “She asked.”there is differences of opinion of that. I personally believe in a principial view of Baptist history.i believe that a Baptist principle had excited back to the early church. I don’t believe in landmark view that is almost a Baptist succession form peater. I don’t believe that Baptist are prostistent. In fact Baptist were under instence persicution commonly over the baptism isue.”he said.

“You like church history? “She asked. “I do. Baptist history is an interest in particular.mostly because it is not that well known even by fellow Baptist. It plays into Baptist theology as well. Do you like church history?”he asked.”very much so. I like history overall. I was interested in church history before college but college grew that passion definitely.”she said.

“So, do you believe in diety of Christ?” He asked. “Yes I do.” She said. ” Salvation by faith alone?” He asked. “I do believe that salvation is by faith alone apart from works. ” She said. ” Is there salvific truth in other religions?”he asked. ,”You had to ask that one? No I do not believe that there is salvific truth in other religions. “She said. “Few! Is the Bible literal?”he asked. “Yes .I do believe that the Bible is literal. I believe that it is the word of God cover to cover!”she said. “Just not the part about pastors being males.!”he said! “I should have known that you would go there. First Timothy does mention male pastors or elders but there is no command that a pastor must be male. The husband of one wife is an example not a command.”she declared.”um I don’t know about that! I think it is clear form the text that leadership in the church is to be male. “He said “to answer your questions yes I do take the Bible literily.”she said. ” I take it you listen to contemporary Christian music.”he remarked. “I do! K love is my favorite radio station. I listen to secular music as well. I take it you are hyms only?”she asked. “I am.i don’t listen to ccm. “He said. “I assume you don’t watch TV?”she asked! “No I assume you do?”he asked.”I do . I love Star trek and crime dramas.”she said. Star trek? A nerd as well?”he asked.”I bit. I like sports as well. I was captian of the seminary volley ball team.i take it you were probably captian of the debate team?”she asked.”pretty much. I was on the Bible college soft ball game but it was intermural.i love sports but I should definitely not give up my day job.”he said. They both laughed.

They both made each other laugh. Even though they were taken a back by each other, they were very playful. They seam to enjoy being in each other’s company. Despite there differences, they were starting to become closer. That was becoming more and more clear .

“What do you want me to be like?”she asks.”well I don’t want to change you. I want to get to know you. I am not trying to transform you into a clone of me. I am not turn you into me .What is the phrase resistnce is futile?I am not like that. I really not that strict. I am but I am easy going as well. “He said. “OK you do upright but I think I can work with you?”she said in a joking Mannie.”you really think I’m upright?”he asked.”slightly but not too rigid. “She told him. They laughed.

He hugged her. She held on to him. He put his arm around her. They both knew it was not going to be easy. They were both wiling to give it a chance. After a while they decided to call it a night. It had been a long day. They were both exchausted. They both fell asleep.

The next morning he woke up. He was bright at first. After a few minutes if just sitting in bed,he got to the point that he was not going to fall back asleep. He started to get up.”what are you doing?”she askd. ” I was going to put the cofee on!” He said. ” What time is it? ” She asked. “A little after seven.” He said. ” Oh OK!  Please tell me your not like John Wesley?”she remarked. You need if I wake up at four am I feel like my faith is slipping? No I am not. “He said.”,glad to hear it.” She said. “You drink coffee ?”he askd. “I do.”she said.

He kissed her cheek. He went to the small kitchen area.he out wetter into the pot. He out in the cofee and turned it on. She came into the small kitchen.she was still a bit groggy. “Good morning hunnie! “He said. “Morning . Not sure if it is good.”she said. He hugged her.”not a morning person?”he askd.”not at all. “She said. “I suspected as much!”he said.  ” Your not a morning person are you?” She asked. ” I think I am not of a morning person then you are.i do enjoy sleeping in. “He Said. “That is good.”,she said.

“,So what is on the agenda today?”she asked. “I figured we would have a simple breakfast. Muffins. Church starts at ten. We are not going to do a lot of jumping and dicing but a little bit.tomrow will be a little more laid back.i know this is our hunnie moon.”he said.” I figure we are going to a Fundy church?”she askd. “Yes.”he said.”OK! I will give it a chance!,”she Said. They had a light breakfast then got ready to go.

Word form the Lord part 14

The satterday that katie met Derrek, it seemed like an ordinary day. Before the church service,it seemed like a normal day. There were no signs that anything earth shattering was going to happen.rarely are there when these things happen. The service had been pretty normal. It was a good service but normal. That changed extremely rapidly.

After the service ended, she saw Derrek. Something was stired up in her. She felt prompted to go talk to him. She ignore it at first. She came to believe that she had to do this. She went over to him.the rest is history.

It did not go quite as she though it would. She never expected him to be reluctant. She expected him to say. I receive it . Then they would walk out hand in hand and live happily ever after. That was not how it happened. Not at all. He seemed to fight it tooth and nail. She never thought he would be an independent fundimental Baptist.

She wounded if maybe she had got it wrong. She did not tell her Perents or anyone else at first except for Derrek of course.for a while nothing. And of it. Then he called her.

She did eventually tell her Perents. “How are things going?”,her mom asked.”going good. “Kaitlin said.” She filled them in on school and church. They suspected she was holding something back. “Anything else going on?”her farther asked. ” I met someone! “She said.” We thought so ! “Her mom said. ” He is Baptist!”she said.”,oh!” Her dad said. “He is a really good guy. He loves the Lord. He appears to have a strong and vibrant faith. “She said.”how did you meet?” Her mom asked.” At church.his brother is a member of the church i go to.the Holly sprit told me to go talk to him. I know it sounds odd.”she told them.

“I am happy for you. I hope to meet him soon.”he said.her farther own sprit confirmed that there relationship was of the Lord. They would accept it. It was difficult for them to see there daughter growing up. They knew that it was bound to happen.

Katiehadno idea that he was had asked her father permission to date her. She had no idea what he was planing. They had been growing closer a d closer together. Derrek was going crazy waiting before Christmast. He wanted this to be a kind of Christmas present to her. He waited.

Thanksgiving came and went. Thanksgiving time was morphing into Christmas. The weather was getting colder. The end of the fall semester was at hand. There were papers to turn in and exams to take. Derrek and Katie were quite busy. They did not get to see each other as much as they would like. Katie continued to attend his church on Sunday night and Wednesday night.

Rob,Nancy and there kids had flown back to the west coast. Thanks giving was becoming a distention memory. Derrek went to a jelwery store and found a heart pendent he really liked. He got it for her for Christmas. He would include the note with the present. He only wished that he could see her old. It. She was planing on going home for Christmas. He was happy for her .He knew that she was homesick. She was sad that she could not get home for Thanksgiving. He was not looking forward to two weeks without her. He knew that she wanted to go home for Christmas. In her place, she would to go home and See his family. It was still hard. Things had really changed between the two.

Derrek had been reluctant to have her come to Thanksgiving. He really enjoyed seeing her interact with her family. He started to fully embrace the idea of them as a couple. He had gotten her father’s permission to formerly date her. H was not looking forward I being away form her for that long. This was there first Christmas.

Derrek had wanted to spend lot of time with her before she left . With exams that was just not possible. Between school, church activities including Christmast programs perades and nursing home visation at such they were both busy.  Despite there busy  activities, they both got high marks on exams and papers. It came with a price. It forced them to certail there social life.

“My flight leaves Friday morning at 7:00. I hate to ask. I know your not a morning person but can you drive me to the airport?”she asked.” Of course I will. I was wondering why you had not asked me sooner.”Derrek said. “You have been pretty busy with school and church . I just figured that you might not want another thing on your plate. Epsecialy so early in the morning. “She remarked. ” Kaetels I really want to drive you to the airport. To be honest that was my plan. All along. I was beginning to think that you were not going to ask me. I am not going to see you for two weeks. This will give us time to speak together before you abandon me. ” He said. “Your sure your OK with it?”she asked.

” Yes I am perfectly OK with it. I am looking forward to it. Except that I won’t get to see you for a could week’s. “He said.”OK! “She said. ,” Can we go out on Thursday.a kind of end of the semester celebration? You are going away for a while? “He asked. “I don’t know .I am feeling a it burned out. I am a. It escbausted. Maybe when I get back.”she told him.   “Come on. It will be fine. Besides I won’t get to see you for two weeks. “He said.”OK!”she said. ” Awesome!”he said.

Derrek saw the next two weeks as a massive storm cloud. A storm that seam to have no way out. He knew that she would be back. The two weeks were not forget. It did not feel that way right now. She saw it completely different. She looked forward to going home. She wanted to see her family. She could not wait to leave. She had been looking forward to this before Thanksgiving. That was all she could think about. He did not blame her. He suspected he was being irrational. He knew it would pass.

He got ready and picked her up. She felt burned out as she told him. She did not feel up to going out that night. She did not want to disappoint him. She almost saw it as an obligation. That was not like her. All she could see as going home.

He got in his car and drove to her place. She came out. She went into his car. “Hi love! ” He said. ” hi! ” She said. The ride to the restaurant was quiet. Neither one said much.before he could take her hand, she walked far ahead.he was surprised but did not think too much into it.

” Your excited about going home?”he asked. ” I really am. I miss my Perents and my siblings. It will be good to be back. It will go by fast I suspect.”she said. Funny he thought,he though that it would go by at a snail pace but he decided not to say that. ” I hope you have a good time. I will miss you but I am happy for you.” He said.he was hoping that she would say something like I will miss you but she did not. Did this mean something? He was afraid to ask. He had no idea what to do.

It was an awkward night. He tried to get her to go for disert but she was not for that. She would not let him pay for her bill. It had been a difficult night.he should not have pushed this. He just wanted to see her before she left. They went to the car. “So I will be at 4:45.” He said. “,Should I call you to make sure your up?”she said. “If you want to. I will be up. I would not miss the chance to see you before you go. “He said.”OK!” She said. She said good night. They did not hug.

The next morning he came by to pick her up. ” I got you your Christmas present. You have to promise not to open it until Christmas day. OK?” He said. “OK! You have my word. Hear is yours. Same rules. “She Said. “OK!” He said. ” Please. All me on Christmas day. I know you will be busy. I will too but please call!” He said. “I will! “She said.

They went to the airport. ” Time to bored.” She said.he was really going to miss her.she had been so distents during the last week. He leened in to give her a hug. Would she recoil? She embraced him. He held on her as tightly as she could. “I love you so much! ” He told her. “I love you. ” She said. He watched her go on to the plane. He knew she might not feel that. Way but he could not wait for her to return.

End of part 14

Christian romance part two

Whwn they were kids, they were best friends. They both were the sunday school over achievers. They both knew all the answers. Everyone thought that they would get together. Then her farther moved them away. They lost touch. Now years later, there paths have crossed again. This time at Bible college. Could the childhood interest be renewed. Were they destined to be together or would nothing come of it?

Mandy decided to call her Perents. They liked her to check in. “Hi mom and dad!”she said. “How is college?” His dad asked. “So far so good!”she said.she filled them on on campus life. She told them about classes and other things associated with the college. Then she told them about Andy.

“Your never going to believe who I ran into?” Mandy asked. “Who?” Her mother asked who was also on the line . “Andrew Rollins ! The son of Bryan Rollins!”she said. “Is he a student there?” He asked. “He is. He is a fresh man. We did not know who each other was until we got talking. ” She said.

“Oh wow. I have not heard from or about Bryan Rollins for a long time. How is pastor Rollins doing?” Her farther asked. ” He is still pastoring. He is pastoring a church in Concord new Hampshire!”she said.”oh wow. Do you know if he is still independent fundimental Baptist?”her dad asked.,”I don’t know. He did not say . I did not ask”she said. ” I had thought about Bryan Rollins in a long time. I always wondered what happened to him. ” Her farther said.

She did say it but she had wondered that herself. Not so much pastor Rollins but certainly wondered what happened to Andrew Rollins.Sense they were both the children of Bible college graduates, they were expected to Excell. It was expected that they would be friends. The two families had spent a lot time together. They frequently went to each other’s home. There families had spent so much time together it was only natural that they would become friends.

They seamed to have a natual pull to each other. At the time they were only kids there at. Some felt they spend too much time together. They were young so everyone thought that it was not too bad.they seamed to have a good influence on each other. She always looked back favoribly to those days.

She never told her Perents but she had thought about her marrying him. She would not tell them. They would not have understood. She would not even mention it in retrospect. That was a life time ago.

She did not think of him every second sense they parted.every once in a while she thought about him. She wondered what life would have been like had they grown up together. Would they have had friends all this year’s? It was possible that they would have drifted apart. She really did not think so.

Every once in a while she would imagine them growing up together. Then she would chose herself for having these vain thoughts. She knew it was silly. As the years went by,these thoughts were few and far between. Every once and again she thought about him.she had no idea why.

She had never told her Perents but she was mad at them for pulling them away from there. She was gotten over it. That too was a distention memory. “I thought that was pretty good. I was not expecting him to be hear. I guess I should not be surprised!”she. Said. “Be sure to make sure Andrew says hi to his Perents for us. Hopefully we will see them at the spring conference. ” Her dad said. “I will make sure to tell him that. I will Be sure he comicates your message to his parents. ” She assured him. He was pleased with that.

She hoped to see Andy. Finally she saw him at new testiment survey. “Hi Andy!” She said. “Hello Mandy! ” He said. “My parents wanted me to make sure you said hi to your Perents. They were thrilled to hear that you were a student year. They hope they will see your Perents at the spring conference. ” She said. “I am sure that they will be thrilled to hear from them. I  definitely will send them that message. ” He told her. “Great!” She said.

“I know that they will be thrilled to hear that you hear. They will be pleased that your dad is still pastoing a church ” he told her. “I enjoy my dad’s preaching. “She said. “I am very found of my dad’s preaching. ” He said. The professor came in and started the class.

That night he called his Perents. After filing them in on life on campus the topic of Mandy came up. “Guess who is a student hear?” He said to them.”who?” His mom asked. “Amanda gray. Well she goes by Mandy now!”he said. “Philip and Anne’s daughter. I have not thought about them in years. ” Mrs Rollins said. “Her parents said hi. She told them that I was hear.”he said. “Wow tell her to say hi to them for us. I am glad to hear that she is a student hear. Is he still pastoring?” He asked. ” Yes he is.  He is pastoring a church in Hastings Michigan.” He said. ” I am glad to hear that. I am glad that she is a student at f.b,u. ” His farther said.

The next day,she saw him at sprituel life class. “Please tell your Perents hi from my Perents. ” He told her. “Oh I will.”she told him. “They were really happy that you were hear. ” He told her. “My Perents were happy that you were hear. ” She told him.

End of part two.

Aranged mariege part two.

Jennifer Marie Richmond who went mostly by Jenny or Jen has grown out in a small town. Her Perents went to a united Methodist Church. She had always been a good student. She loved history . She was an avid reader. She was politicaly involved as well.

She had been very involved in her local church from a young age.she became very interested in Methodist history and the theology of metgodist. She knew everything there to know about Methodist and John Wesley and everything associated with it.

At a young age she talked about being a ministet. That and being a starship captian. She was a Star trek fan as well. Her farther tried to discourege it at first. He was a bit of a traditionalist. He was not sure about a women pastoring a church. She stuck to this dream. When there local church welcomed a female pastor that kind of put the kibosh on slot of his objections. While jack Richmond as still not so sure about female pastors or his daughter becoming a pastor.

Jack and Jenny had always been close. They tended to agree mostly on the big theological questions. Even with some disagreements, they had been close. He was proud of the person his daughter has turned out to be. She was a strong person. She had good Character and intregrety. She was a hard worker. He held on to his more old feshoned views as well.

She has stuck with her dream of becoming a minister.she worked towards that goal. She was mentored by pastor Kathy. She went to a seminary that trained more mainline ministers Including united Methodist.

While Jenny was not guy crazy, she still want to be maried. She did not spend a lot of time thinking marrying. Her Perents believed in aranged mariege. From a long age it was ingrained in her that her spouse would be chosen. Y her Perents. She was fine with that. She had accepted it. She even anticipated it. She trusted her Perents. She knew that they had her best interest at heart.

They had not talked about it recently. She was pastoring a church so she was busy with her local church.she was heavily involved with the sate denomination and local civic engagement as well. She had not considered being married.

She always took Wednesday off. She was drinking coffee when her phone went off. “Hello this is Jenny!”she said. “Hi Jenny it’s your mom. Can you you drop by the house?” Her mom asked. “Yea sure.is everything OK?” Jenny asked.”yes of course your farther and I have something we want to discuss. ” She said. Jenny was a little confused.”OK . I will be right up. ” She said.

She was a bit confused. She was cruious as well. She headed to there home. She lived 20 minutes away form her Perents. She came in. They engaged in small talk. Then they got to the point. ” As you know , your mother and I decided that your marriage should be aranged.”jack said.”of course. ” She said.

She began to think that this was hardly an accedemic discussion. “You see we have been looking for a suitable candidate to be your husband.we have found someone.we believe that this is a good choice. ” Her farther said.” We are quite pleased with this man. ” Her mom said.

She had no idea how to take this. She had not considered that this could happen at any time. She figured it would. She was not obsessed with it. Now it was happening.

“I see.”she answered. She took a breath . She could not believe this. When she went back to his home, she tried to adjust to all this. She came to accept it. She did look forward to it.it was a new adventure . She did liked adventures.

She woke up the day of he weeding.she had no idea what to expect.her Perents had been a bit cryptic about him. She knew his name but that was about it.james foster. She had no idea what he would be like. Would they get along. Would they mesh? There would so many questions. So many veribles. She hoped that it would all work out. She was confident that it would. She was not so sure how.

When she saw him for the first time she thought he was attractive. He was clean shaven.he had short hair. He seemed friendly. Time appeared to have stopped when he took her hand. She forgot that there were other people in the audience . It felt like there was just her ,him and the minister. Then she began to come back to reality when he declared them to be husband and wife.

She was eiger to talk to him.she wanted to get to know him. She hardly knew what his voice sounded like. She understood that weadings were for the first as well as the bride and groom but she wanted to get to know this man. He was a complete enigma to her. She had felt  neutral about the whole process. As the day got closer she was not exactly excited about the upcoming nuptials but did look forward to it.

Now that she met him ,it was totally real to her now. She still knew almost nothing about him.finsly they headed to the car.things started off well. The conversation was small talk but was pleasant. Then she found out that he was an independent fundimental Baptist. Form the little they talked,it appeared that they could not be any more different.

They said little on the drive to the cabin.neither one knew what to say. Both went inward. Both tried  to make sense of it in there own mind.  They had trouble doing that.

James was not sure what to do. He wanted to marry someone like him. He wanted to marry a fellow independent fundimental Baptist.he wanted a cone of himself. While they did not have to agree on everything but as far as theology he wnted his wife to be exactly like him. On favorite color s or style of car was fine to be be different but not on doctrine or practice. How his wife was totally different . He was prety sure she was good on basic doctirne not on other things. Definitely not on his view of ecclesiology.

Jenny was equally divided. She was not quite as a doctrinal purest as he was. She believed that the Bible is the word of God. She believed in salvation by grace though faith. She believed in social gospel as well. She was much more community minded. She did not have quite the same expectations then he had.she believed he would probably be an eventual or conservative mane line. She did not want to Mary someone in the united Church of Christ lane of the congregational church. She was sossily conserve but fiscally moderate to liberal.

She did not have a problem with him being a Fundy.she had a problem with the fact that he had a problem with him having a problem with it.she was not sure she could live in the scrict seperitist world of the I.f.b. she feared he could not live in the world of the mainline denomination. Were they headed to a impass?

They talked a little in the car after the revilation.it was not even smaller talk. “We are almost there !”James said.”excellent!” She said. They arived at the cabin complex. He parked the car at the main office. “I will be right back!”he told her. He kissed her on the forehead. He went inside.

She did not understand this man. He was a mystery to her. She wondered if she ever was. It took a few seconds for him to check in and get the key. He came right back in.”hey hunie.we are in cabin four c. “He told her. The car headed to the cabin. The car parked right outside the cabin. They got out of the car.

Even though he was not sure about all this but he was big into tradition.he picked her up and did carry her over the threshold.she was not old fashioned but felt like it was OK. She figured he would be all about tradition and as it turns out he was.

The cabin was small but beautiful as was the campus. He made a good choice. Maybe he had good taste at least in this. They started to bring things inside.he seamed to pack light. She packed a great deal more. That was to be expected. They brought stuff in. They did a little bjt of unpacking. Then they just sat for a minute.

Neither one knew what to say. They just sat in silence. Both sides tried to sort this out.neither one had a solution. They said nothing. They just sat.

Word from the Lord part 13

What Derrek and Katie did not know was that they were being watched. “It’s funny.i seam to recall another ministerial student siting at another parsnege steps. With a young lady.”the older pastor Carlson commented. “I have no idea what your talking about dad.”Bryan Carlson said.

“I never thought I would say this but I believe that God is going to use those two for his glory. “Anna Carlson said. ” I was sceptical when I heard that she was penticoastal . I must confess I am beginning to suspect that the Lord has a plan for there lives. ” The older pastor Carlson said. “They are a sweet couple.i am excited for them. “The older Mrs Carlson said.

“I probably should be getting back. “Katie said.”yea. It is getting late. I am going to miss you. “Derrek said. “Lord wiling it won’t be that long before we see each other again. “She told him.”I know that. Look kaetels I am not sure about the whole word thing but I don’t think that it is implosible that you were created for me. I would like to think that I could have been created for you.”he said.

Katie started to smile in a way she had never smiled before. She hugged him.”I definitely believe that you were created with me in mind. I have no doubts about that. “She replied to his comment.”I am glad you feel that way.”Derrek said.

They held hands as they went inside. “I am going to be heading back. Thank you so much for inviting me. “Katie told her future mother in law. Anna hugged her.”I am so glad you came! “Anna told her. “Katie said goodbye to various family members.. then Derrek walked her to her car.

He opened the door for her. “Your really starting to accept the possibility of us are you not? “She asked. “Yes I am hunie.i really am.”he told her.”I can tell.”she said. She hugged him. “Have a great night. “He told her.”you too”she said.

He started to walk away. She stopped him. She stopped him.”hey Derrek! “She said. He stopped. ” I love you! “She told him.he turned around. ” I love you too” he said. She drove off. He went inside.

He walked inside. “I am really glad that your grandma and I got to meet Katie.”his grandfather told Derrek. “I am glad you got to meet you. “He said. “We really like her.” His grandmother said.

“We are expecting a wearing invite any time now !”Nancy said.”no pressure “Denise said. “OK!”Derrek said. Derek was happy with everyone’s reaction. He was quite encouragd by all of this.

That night he told the Lord that he was ready to dedicate himself and Katie and whatever children they might have to the Lord. By faith  he would accept Katie as his wife. He was nervous but he would trust that this was the Lord will for his life. He was ready for the next step. He was ready to ask katie’s farther for permission to date her.

Katie had seen a difference in Derrek. He was more relaxed. She had not seen him like this. She loved meeting her family. It seemed right. She was happy that night. She eagerly anticipated the future.

The next day Katie got up. Her phone went off. “Hello. “She said.”Katie. It’s Nancy.Denise and I are going to get away. A kind of girls day out. Would you like to join us? It is a lot of fun but I have to earn you that we get a little silly. “Nancy said.” I would love to ” Katie said. ” Great is 11:00 OK?” She asked.

Derrek came to breakfast. “You ok Rick?”Bryan asked. “I am a little nervous. “He said. “Why is that? “Anna asked.” I am going to call kaetels dad and ask him for permission to date her ?” Derrek said. ” I remember calling Nancy’s dad.i was very nervous to say the least. “Robert said.

“Just be relaxed and respectful. I am sure it will be fine. “His dad said. ” You probably should not refer to her as kaetels when you called her dad.”Sarah said.”I should probably call her Katelyn. ” Derrek said. ” I think that is safe.”his dad said. ”

“What do I call kaetels dad? Normally I would call him pastor graves. Katie told me that he does not like to be called pastor graves. I consider it a sign of respect but he takes it the opposite. Almost as a sign of disrespectful.” Derrek said.

” What do people at church call him?” Rob asked. “Pastor Mike. I find that very disrespectful. “Derrek said. “If that is what he prefers,I think it is OK to refer to him that way. You need to set aside your values for this occasion.” Nancy said. ” I agree.”Derrek said.

” The key is to show genuine respect. “His farther said. “I will do that. I do feel that it is important to honor him. I will endeavour to do that. “He said.”that is important!”his dad said.” If you honor him in your heart the way the Bible says you will have no trouble communicating that.out of the abdundence of the heart the mouth speaks. “Robert said. “I know that.”he said.

“So do I call it datingor courtship. What if I accidently use an ice silver terms? To some the word dating caries the connotation of world dating.to others it is just a word. Some view courtship as the biblical method ,others do not.”Derrek said.

Courtship is probably a safe term. You plan on involving both sets of Perents any ways?”Nancy commented. “Absolutely!”Derrek , answered. ” Your over thinking this. You don’t want to sound fake or that it is scripted.you have to sound genuine. You have to be genuine.”Rebecca said. “Don’t treat this like an obligation. It should not be. Perental involvement is part of God’s plan.its positive.”Derek said.

“We noticed that you have been. A bit skidish about you and Katie. You seamed to be staying your feet. You tended to want to slow things down . Now your rushing right In full speed. What changed?” His dad asked.

“She had elevated a lot of my fears.i feel like I have been able to see her character. I have come to see that she can be trusted. During devotions and prayer I feel free to proceed. “Derrek said.

“Your mom and I are definitely supportive of you moving forward. I think it is time to Persue it “pastor Bryan Carlson said.” Thanks dad.that means a lot.” Derrek said. ” “We are excited for you.”Anna said. “Thank you.i am too”Derrek said.

“Derrek does Katie know that your going to talk to her father?” Nancy asked.” No I have not. I wanted to surprise you. It will participate her christmast time. Well asumung he says yes. “Derrek said.” I think she will be surprised and thrilled.” Anna Carlson. Said.

Katie had no idea what to expect in her interaction with with Derek’s family. She had no real prior experience with the independent fundimental Baptist movement. She had known some Baptist but they were more evangelical. When she and Derrek first met ,he presented the I.f.b as strict and rigid. She figured that he was trying to discourage her from Persuing him. At the very least to curb the enthusiasm. She had no idea how they would react.

Nancy had really tried to welcome her. Nancy and Katie would become very close.they would keep in touch on the phone and on social media. They often referred to each other eas best friends. The friendship would bring Derek and Rob closer as well.

Derrek and Rob had had a report.derrrk liked Rob. He admired him.he looked up to him. They had not been very close. Rob was quite a bit older then Derrek.they did not have a lot in common. Derek did follow in Rob’s footsteps in Manny ways. There views are very similar. They still did not seam to click. Rob still saw Derrek that hyper kid that zapped him with a laser gun while he was trying to do trigonometry homework. Derrek never got pass Rob having no interest in him when

Jason was almost exactly like Rob. Jason always had time for Derrek. Jason not only put up with derrek’s youthfully furvolities but sometimes joined in. Nancy and Katie encouraged the two to become closer.botg wives Insisted they interact. They did open up with each other.

Denese,Nancy and Katie became a kind of three amogos or three sturges if you asked there husband’s. They looked forward to spending time together.denese and Nancy arrived a little before 11:00. Katie went out to meet them. “Good morning ! “Katie said.”morning!”they said.

At the restaurant. ” I am surprised you too are friends!” Katie remarked.”oh we are. It friends!” Nancy said I. A sarcastic tone. “Not at all. “Denese said.”they did not know what to make of Tom and denese at first. My in laws were glad that Tom was active in church. I was new to the family. I did not know Tim well. I did not have the same bagege that the rest of the family did. We just hit it off from minute one.”Nancy said.

“I knew a very different Tom then his family did. When went,he was very active in our church. I had no idea he went though a sprituel droubt as he called it. I had a totally different view of Tom. I was so nervous about meeting Nancy but we bit it off. Nancy helped bring both Tom and I back into the fold.”denese said.

“I appreciate the kindness both of you have shown me. I really feel welcome. “Katie said.”I am really excited to see you becoming part of our family.”Nancy said.”I am glad I won’t be outnumbered any more.” Denese said.

“Get to know Anna she is amazing lady. ” Nancy said.” She really is. ” Denese said.”I can see that. I really like her.”Katie said. “,I can tell that she really likes you.”Nancy said. “I am going to marry into a special family am I not?”Katie asked. ” You really are. I am excited for you.”denese said.

“I am probably getting too far ahead of myself. We are not even officially dating.i can’t help but be excited.”Katie said.nancy tried not to react. She wished that she could say something. She was shown to secrecy.

“I would not be woried about that. The way he looks at you. I know that it will all work out for you. ” Denese said. ” I think so too. ” Katie said. “You are his kaetels.”Nancy said. ” You know about his Nick name. “She asked.”yes. It comes with the territory. “Denese said.”Tom gave you a nickname?” Katie asked.”yes he did.nessy.” she answered. “Like the lockness monster ? “Katie said.”I don’t think that was his Intention but yes.it had grown on me.”denese said.

“Rob calls me many.its OK.”Nancy said.”,it could be worse.”Katie said.they laughed.” Do you mind being called kaetels?”Nancy asked.”,it’s fine.i kinda like it.”Katie said. They laughed.

Derrek was really nervous. He made the call frombis father’s den. He took a breath and then made the call. He heard the phone ringing.katie’s mom answered the phone. “Hello”Mrs .Graves said.” Hello is pastor Mike there?” Derek asked.” Yes he is. May I ask whose calling?”she asked.”this is Derrek Carlson. I am a firend of Katelyn. ” He answered.”,oh hi. I will go get him.” Valerie graves said.

Micheal Allen graves or pastor Mike as he was called wasin his office. Valerie came into his study. Dear. You have a call .It’s Derrek he is a friend of Katelyn. “She said. “Thanks Val”he said. Pastor Mike took the phone.”hello this is pastor Mike.”he said. ” Hi I am Derrek Carlson”he said.”hi. Katelyn told me a lot about you. “He said.”I am calling to ask your permission to formerly court your daughter. “Derrek said.

  • Derrek waited with batted breath. The pastor smiled and squeezed his wife hand.” From everything I have heard about you I do not see any reason why you cannot court my daughter. You have my permission.”pastor Mike said.”I look forward to meeting you in person. “Derek told him.”as do I!”the pastor said. “I would like to surprise her.coukd you not mention that we talked?”he asked.”I won’t mention it to her. I totally understand. I know that she will be very happy and surprised.she has told her mom and I slot about you. She is  very excited about the prospect of a relationship with you.”hesaid. “I am excited as well. Your daughter means a great deal to me.”Derrek said.”I can tell. “The pastor said.
  • After a  while, the phone conversation was concluded. “Did he ask you permission to court Katelyn?”,Valerie asked.” He did. I said yes.,”he said.,”I thought you did. “She said.”,he seams very polite. “,Mike said.
  • “So are you are prepared when he asked permission to propose mariege?”Val asked.” Well no. I am not ready for my little girl to get married but I think they will make a good couple. “He said.” I am supportive of this as well,”she said.
  • When Derrek turned off the phone, his heart started to return to his chest. He could breath a again . It was like time had stopped. Now time had resumed.he serviced.
  • He went back to the living room. “Did you talk to katie’s dad? ” Rob asked. “I did. He said yes. “Derek replied. “Congratulations. I am really happy for you. ” His farther said. “” His farther said. ” Can you wait until Christmas to tell her?”his mom asked.”that is my plan. I think I can wait until then” Derrek said.
  • End of part 23.

Christian romance

In sunday school, they had been the two smartest student. They knew all the answers. They should. Andrew was the son of the pastor. Amanda was the daughter of a deacon. They were in the same grade and we’re close to the same age.

“Some day you two are going to be maried. I hope you will invite me to the wedding!”miss granger the first grade sunday school teacher remarked. They both denied that they would be maried.they both knew that it would happen.

Then it all changed. Amanda’s farther decided to take a job at a Bible college on the other side of the country. On the day before she left, she kissed him on the forehead. ” Someday we will get married. “She said. They never saw each other again. Well up until this point.

Andrew and Amanda moved on. They forgot about each other.they went into very different directions. That was about to change. Andrew and Amanda went to the same Bible college. They had no idea that they had gone to the same college. They did not know that at first.

It was a week into the school year. Andrew went to a table . He sat down.he did not anyone at the table yet. He introduced themselves. The last person to introduce herself was Mandy. “Hi I’m Mandy. ” She said. “I’m Andy!”he said.

The conversation mostly consisted of small talk. It concerned classes and things of that nature. “So where are you from?”she asked Andy. “Everywhere but currently in Concord new Hampshire. Where are you from?”he asked her.”I too have been over the country and Canada. Right now I am living in Hastings Michigan . “She said.

They had no idea that they knew each other or did. “Where were you born?” She asked. “Outside at. Paul Minnesota. My dad was a pastor there.”he said. “I was born in at. Paul. My dad is a pastor now! He was a deacon at a church there. ” She said. ” What church was it?”he aske.” Biblically based Baptist Church. “He said.”my dad pastored biblically based Baptist Church . “He said.”what is his name?”she asked. ” Bryan Rollins !”Andy said. “Oh my! My dad is Philip gray. ” She said. “No! Amanda?”he asked.

“Well I have not gone by Amanda in quite a while but yes it’s me! ” She said. Andy was a bit embarissed. He had remembered the last time they saw each other. She was his kiss. It was on the forehead. He did not think it was appropriate. His dad told him that under the circumstances it was OK. Over the years he had never quite got her out of his mind. He did not think if her constantly. Every once in a while he remembered her.

Could he be dreaming? Was his child hood friend really right next to him. This seamed impossible. Yet it seemed to be happening. He could not believe this. He thought he would never see her again. Hear she was.

Mandy was really surprised. She never thought that she would ever see him again. When she was young that was the worst day of her life. She begged her dad not to move. He told her he understood that this was difficult but change is a part of life. Sometimes God moves people to a new place. He told her it would get easier. It did. She moved on. Life went on. She still though about him every once and a while.it had been a long time since she came into her head.

She was shocked. It was not that unlikely that they would meet up eventually. It was still improve. Hear they were. It seemed like something far fetched. Hear she was. Hear he was.

“I can’t believe it’s you. This is unreel.” She said. “I know what you mean. How are you?”Andy asked. ,”Good. I am a pastoral major.”he said. “I am not surprised. I am a music major. “She said. “I think your mom played every instrument out there . I figure learning to play musical instrument was hardly optional.” He said.” No it was not. I play the piano and violin and a few other. You play anything?”she asked. “I tried but it did not go well.”he said.she laughed.

They talked for a bit. Then they had to go and get ready for there classes.”it was good to see you. “She said. “You too. I am sure we will see each other around the campus and in classes. “He told her. “I am sure we will.” She said.

Andy wondered if she remembered the promise they made long ago. They had promised to Mary each other. That was a long time ago. They were young. he wondered if she remembered. He did not dare to bring it up. It was a bit silly. Of course they were not bound to it. Besides she might have a boyfriend or maybe even a fiencae. They might not have anything in common.iteas silly for him to even think about this. He should out these things be out of his head.it probably would never happen.he tried to put it out of his mind.

She could not believe she had seen him.she could not wait till tell her Perents that she had seen him. Her father credited his farther as the reason. He decided to pursue the pastor ship. Though they had lost touch , Andy’s family still had a place in her Perents hearts.  She wondered if he remembered there pledge to Mary each other. That was so long ago. What if he had a girl. He might be engaged.

They had plenty in Common all those years go.that does not mean they did now. This might be a mistake. Could they ever get over the past? Could they fall in love? Or would they simply love the thought of them.it seemed like a bad idea.

Were they headed for love ? It was hard to know. Only time would tell.

End of part one

Arranged marriage

Aranged mariege was once a common thing. It was accepted and practiced without much scrutiny. It has fallen into disfavor. It is not commonly practiced.

Greg and Gloria foster were a bit old fashioned. They home schooled there kids. They had a fairly large family. They decided to arrange the mariege of there children. This was understood and accepted. To them it seemed normal. There two oldest son had been married in this fashion. They were successfully marieges.

Now it was time for there third son James to be maried. James had gone to Bible school and now was pastoring a small church. He was showing signs of sprituel growth and maturity.

Given that his marriage would be handled by his parents ,he focused his time at Bible college on preparing for ministry not trying to pair off. He was fine with that. He trusted his parents. They decided that now that he was established in ministry it was time to have him get maried.

James had no role in this process. He did not even know that they were trying to find a wife for him. They spoke to  various friends of there’s. They were carefully trying to vett the potential wife and her family. They left no stone unturned. They looked and after prayer, they believed that they had found someone. They were very pleased with the choice.

One day his Perents asked him to drop by there house. He had no idea why. That was not that out of the ordinary. He had lunch with them.”son we have something to tell you.” His mom said. “OK! “He Said. “We have been looking for a wife for you. “She said.”I was not aware of that.” He said.,”yes . We wanted to surprise you and we wanted to be able to make a decision without interference”his dad said. “Of course I understand. ” He said. ” Good. We have found someone. ” She told him.

He was really surprised By this. He had no idea that they were looking. He was also surprised that they found someone.  ” Her name is Jenny . She is quite lovely. I think you will  really like her. ” his mom said.  “She comes from a good family. I think she will be a really good match for you. ” His dad said.

He was totally Schocked. He believed that he would be maried. He had not given it a lot of thought. He focused on other things like his ministry. Now that his parents had chosen someone for him to Mary he was curious. What was she like? Would they be compatible? Would he like her? Would she like him. He could not get her out of his mind. He was excited. No one would he be going though life alone. He would have a partner a company ion a helper. Who was she.

The way the arrangement was ,he would not meet her until the weeding day.all he knew was her name. Other then that,he really did not know much about her. Really he knew almost nothing about her. His Perents liked her. He trusted there judgement.

He tried to get his house ready for her. The church did not have a paersnege. He owned a house. It had some land. He hoped she would like it. He had no idea what she was like. He knew nothing about her personality. Nothing about her interest.

The time of the weeding had arrived. He was not allowed to see her until the weeding. He was usually calm and collected . He was 23 years old but acted like he was 53 years old. His usual calmness was replaced. He had a  thousand different emotions all at once.he did know that by the end of the day he would be maried. He would meet his wife.

He had heard that she was in the building. He was kept in another part of the church. “Are you ready?” His best man asked. “I am not sure. I think so!” He said. The two went to the main part of the sanctuary. He knew those airing on the groom side. He did not know hardly know anyone on the bride side. He was not expecting to.

The music began to play. Various members of the party arrived. Then the wedding march went up tempo. There she was. She had brownish hair. She was five six. He imagined that she was probably In her early twenties. She seamed younger then him. At five nine he was taller then him. He did not care if he was taller but did take that into account.when the farther of the bride gave her to him.he took her hand. There eyes met for the first time. His heart raced. He wondered what she was thinking. He wished he knew. They went though the vows.the pastor declared them husband and wife.

She ones over. He nervously kissed her. The two kissed.  The ceremony was concluded. ” Hi there! I’m your husband!” He said. She chuckled. “I guess so! Hello my husband!”she said. She took his hand. They walked out to the reception area. The reception went well. He still felt that he knew next to nothing about her. He had not gotten to say much to her.

After quite a while, the two prepaired to leave. They went to her car. Her sister was put in charge of making sure that her stuff made to his to there house. They went to the car. “So where are we going?” She asked. “I got a cabin in Vermont. Is that OK?”he asked. “Yea sounds good.”he said. He opened the door to the car for her. Then he got in. He had a CD of hyms playing.  They were instrumental. She was not much for hyms or instrumental music.

“So what do you do? “She asked. ” They did not tell you. I am a pastor. I pastor a small church. “He said. “I am a pastor too!”she said. “You are?”he asked. “I thought you knew. I pastor Trinity united Methodist Church. ” She said. “Oh I figured you were independent fundimental Baptist. ” He said. “I assumed you were united Methodist.”she said.

“Let me guess you voted for Hilary?”he said.”I did. Did you vote for Trump?”she asked. ” Yes I did. Reluctantly but yes. I really wanted Ted Cruz but it did not happen.”he said. ” Your King James only right?” She remarked. “I am.”he said. ” You only sing hymns. ” She asked.”true. You observe lent?”he asked. “I do. “She said. They had trouble carying on a conversation.

The drive took a few houses. ” Look can I change the music?” She asked. ” OK!” He said. She put on k-love. It was a CCM station. He was not really happy with it but decided to let it go.he supposed it would take ajustment for the both of them.they did not say much to each other for a while. He was starting to wonder what he had gotten himself into.

Why would his Perents pair him off with a Methodist minister. It made no sense. Yet hear he was. He was not sure how this going to go.

End of part one.
