Matt and Abby :conventional thinking.

Matt was surprised he did not hear from her except for when she arrived .he texted her before he went to bed.he did not hear back from her. He missed her.
He looked at a picture at them together. They were smiling.he had his arm around her.he stared at it. Then he put it down.he went to sleep.
She went to the room she and Jill were staying in.she heard the phone go off. She looked at it.”mat?’she asked “yea I will answer him later” Abby said.
“Abygail Elise your not going to text him back?” Jill asked.”I Will tomorrow!”Abby said.
“That’s not like you. You always text him back ” Jill remarked.” what am I doing? What was I thinking? Matt and I are night ans day different! Why do I think we can make it work? ” Abby said.
“What brought this on?” Jill asked.”something Michael said. I am intellectual.  He is not.  I study laten,philosophy literature.he believes that he is a fool for Christs sake. ” she said.
“Abby why are you listening to Michael? He is your archilias heel.he has always has been.   your atracted to him. You have some chemistry with him. There is no denying that. “She said .
“Look I know Michael is bad news. He is full of himself.he is arogent. He is wrong for me. I do like him but I don’t want to be with him. He is right that Matt is not my intellectual equal. The I.fb don’t like interlurual pursuit. They believe it is studied unbelief. You know me I have tuned contiplating ones naval into an art form. Sola scriptora does not meen you can’t read something other then the bible. ” she said.
“How do you know that he does feels that way? Abby Your tired. Micheal is hitting you at a bad moment. Don’t make a decision now.” she told her.
The next day mat got up. “I got some people concerned that you went liberal!”his dad said. “Oh yea I did not think about it. Abby and I swapped cars. ” mat said.”I explained that you traded cars with a friend. Your fine.”he said.
“I miss her. ” he said. “We can tell.  ” his mom said. “We muss her too”his sister Kathy said. Kathy and his mom had become very close with her as had his sister alesha. The whole family was found of her.
He hoped he would wake up to a text from her. He thought for sure that there would be.there was nothing. No text. He checked face book.she made some post. No mesges from her. 
She went down to breakfast.she saw Michael. “Hello michael! “Abby said. “Helo ab.” he said.”do you really think mat and I are a bad match?” she asked.
“He is clearly a nice guy. I don’t doubt that. He is kind and compasionate. He is stale . he has no debt. You do have no dept. You need to be challenged stimulated. You and I clicked. We could do great things. We would make a great team. ” he said.
“Mike your wrong about me. You don’t know me. Not really. I am not just one thing. Neither is Mathew. I am not going to be with you.even if Matt and I are not together I would not be with you. You and I wshe on’t work. I know that. “She told him.
He saw her post. No messages for her for him. He wrote her a letter he never intended to deliver to her. “Ab I can’t imagine life without you. Your not quite the person I imagined. That’s ok.I like you better then what I imagined. Your special to me. I love your smile. All I have to do is to see you then I smile. I love being with you. I love talking to you.I love being with you.I miss you.love always Mattie.”
It was Sunday. He went to church.”hi Mathew ” Mrs Perkins said.”hello Mrs Perkins .” he said.”have you heard from Abigail ?”she asked.” not yet. Last I knew she was leaving around one a clock. She is going to call me before she leaves. “He said. “Will she be coming tonight?”she asked.”l am not sure . she has not said. ” mat said.
She has been coming to evening service.she was well liked by people in the church.
Finally  she called.”hi ab! “He said . ” hi mat.I am leaving now. “She said.she seemed distant. “Genivive is working really good.”he said.”you named my car?”Abby asked.”I did. My car is named myrtle. “He said .”why am I not surprised? ” she asked. “You don’t like the name genivive?”She asked.”no it’s fine. I am heading out. ” she said. “Drive like I do?”he said.
“I will drive carefully . not like you.no offense but I want to get home today” she said. “Ok! Call me if you need me. I am going to worry until you get home.not because I don’t trust you but because it’s my job. ” he said.
She started to come out of it. “I will drive carefully. I won’t drive like you but I will drive less like me.” she said.”that will work. ” he said.
“Ok talk to you later. ” she said ” call if you need me. I meen it. I will be there. No matter what.” he said.
“I know. “She said.”I love you !”She said.”yea “she said.then they hung up.
He knew something was up. He did not know what.he hoped that hearing from her would eliviate his fears.that did not quite happen.
“Why did you not tell him you loved him?”Jill asked.” I don’t know . ” she said. “Abby don’t be an idiot!”Jill said.  “We are the most mis matched couple ever .we don’t agree on anything. Not music politics religion literature nothing. We can’t even agree on nfl teams. If we looked at a warm sunny day we. Would not agree on that. Its like I am a Vulcan and he is a bajoren. Worf and dax were more suitable as a couple then us” Abby said.
“Are you done with your low self esteam group season?”Jill asked.”maybe.  You made fun of me for even thinking about being with hiM!she said.
“I will continue to. Mostly I enjoy teasing you. Abby this has nothing to do with rather or not he intellectually stimulates you. It doesn really have anything to do with Matt . it’s about you and God and the church . your too conservative for ucc but too liberal for his church. If you never met Matt this issue would come to a head. Do you want to deal with it with or without Matt. Will it be with the enterprise or under the ocean with Luis.”Jill said.
“That was Abby?” Kathy asked.”she is heading home !”he said. “Is everything ok?”his mom asked.”I am not sure!”he said.
When she got home she dropped Jill off. She drove to mats. He sw her .he went outside to see her.
“Hi reverend Abby welcome back. ” he said. “Pastor Campbell! ‘Murtle’ has a full tank of gas!” Abby said “you didn not have to. Genivive has a full tank of gas.”he said “I already knew that.” she said.
Usually she hugged hiM but not this time. “Abby what’s up?” he said. “I need some time to think . ” she said.” your having seconds thoughts?” he asked.
“Well I’m worried that we are too different. You are take things on faith. Your the foolishness of preaching sola scriptora,I’m intellectual.  We are different. We see the world differently.Mayby we can’t co exist happily. ” she said .
“Are we that different ? Do we see the world that differently? “He asked. “I am an intellectual your more practical. Your version of aligory of the cave is a hunting story “she said. “From Plato. I know the aligory of the cave. I do occasionally read something other then Winnie the poo!” he said.she laughed.
“There that smile I know and love. Your not from the mirror universe after all. ” he said. ” I did not think you would quote star trek. ” she said “look ab no I am not intellectual . I am not wired that way. I do believe some people use philosophy to talk themselves out of the scriptures. I do believe scripture trumps all. In scripture vrs man’s wisdom, scripture must win. We  just believe God above man. I am not against wisdom ,I am not against science or philosophy. You really think that I will boor you.” he asked.
“No. I had this dream of marying a ucc ministerial students . we would pastor near by churches compare notes. That was my dream. I gues your dream is to Mary an independent fundamental Baptist girl who wants to be a house wife with tons of kids.  ” she said
“What do you want ab? What is it you want?” he asked.”I don’t know.my world has been turned upside down. My denomination does not quite suit me. I stil want to be a minister. Yes you are I really are not that different. Our beliefs are closer then we thought. I want to get married I want kids. ” she said.
“I considered walking away. I kinda did. I could not walk away. You would not let me. You and I we have been though things that should have doomed our relationship. We are night and different aby . we are nothing alike . if we were any different we were be total opposites. We think differently act differently. We are nothing alike. We have almost nothing in common. I thought about this. If I could change you I would not do. U would not change you one bit. I have never been afraid to be challenged. Abby I am going to Mary you some day. Is it going to be hard yea. Is it going to be impossible at times maybe. “He said
“You really would not change me ?” she said. “No your strong Wiled but not force full. You have strong opinion but never opinionated. I  want a partner  an eaqul. ” he said.
He hugged her. They stayed in each others arms for a prolonged times . ”  we  can take a break on one condition . if you promise to come back to me. ”  he said. ” I don’t know how to figure out this out. ” she said.
” I got to get to church. Your coming?”.he said. ” fine!” she said. S he was not dressed for his church. Everyone was thrilled to see her.
After church he walked her to her car ” I was not going to give you this. It was a note I wrote. I want you to read it. ” he gave it to her. She opened it. ” you mean it?” she asked. “Yes. “He said. He walked her to  car. He knew that she would  back.
